Description

OK Let's Mahjong is an OKC-based company offering American Mahjong lessons, classes, events and services for people of all ages and interests. Founded by Sydney Rainey in February of 2023, it has emerged as not only a fun new hobby to learn, but an experience to be enjoyed with family and friends both old and new. The traditional game of mahjong originated in China in the mid-1800's and has since adapted into countless versions of this challenging, fun and social tile game utilizing both strategy and luck to pull off a winning hand. Mahjong, with its deep cultural roots and intricate gameplay, encourages face-to-face communication, sharpens cognitive skills, and instills a sense of mindfulness, making it a cherished unplugged experience that not only entertains but rejuvenates the mind and soul in a world increasingly dominated by technology.

In this lesson, Sydney will introduce the game of mahjong and its objective, review the tiles and playing card, demonstrate how to set up, deal and follow the flow and format of the game. You'll walk away with a solid understanding of the basics, a few cheat-sheets to take home, and an undeniable desire to keep learning and playing more! Join us for food, drinks, mingling and a mahjong experience with the chance to win a prize or two! Welcome to your newest obsession where you'll want to get all the gear, a recurring game to hone your skills, and to dive into an incredible community of mahjong enthusiasts you never knew existed!
